A well-designed bench layout makes the sauna feel calm and spacious. A badly designed one turns every session into a sweaty group exercise where nobody knows whose knee is touching what.
Quality benches should be stable, comfortable against bare skin and correctly positioned in relation to the heater and ceiling. When the benches, heater, ventilation and sauna room work together, they create a balanced and enjoyable sauna experience.
In traditional wood-burning and electric saunas, the foot bench is generally positioned at or above the top of the heater stones. The final height must always be determined according to the heater design, internal sauna height and manufacturer’s instructions.
